- Timothy was the scribe and Paul was the thinking behind it
- Written to Christians. Specifically to deacon and bishops (overseeres)
- Paul really cares about the people he is writing to
- He thanks God for them
- Paul says that God who has started a good work in us will complete it
- He thinks of them a lot
- It is definetly know that Paul is writting the letter
- I think he sets apart the deacon and bishops from the regular christians because the deacons and bishops would make it a point to teach the christians and make them listen so it will be more effective.
- Paul writes in a totally diferent way than todays society
- Paul wishes them grace and peace. Grace is more of God forgiving you when you do not deserve it. Peace is more like having a peace about whats going on. They are not the same thing, yet they do go together nicely.
- Grace and Peace do have similarities. I think you have more peace after you recieve grace. Grace and Peace both make me feel safe.
- You can tell the people have a certain bond with Paul. He really truly cares and looks out for them. They really love him and are very thankful that he takes time out of his day to write to them.
- Paul is letting the people know that it is good for him to be in jail. He can expand the kingdom with the position God has put him in.
- Everytime he remembers them he prays and thinks of them
- Paul is a very godly man, and prays to God a lot
- He only talks positevly of his time in jail
- They definetly have some kind of partnership
- Paul has confidence that the Lord will take care of them, and provide for them
- "began a good work" could mean just doing service for the Lord
- God is the one who begins a good work in us
- Life is Gods grace no matter what you are going through
- Paul is a strong Christian
- Paul has a very good prayer life
- Paul wants them to grow deeper and learn to love God even more
- Paul loves them and holds them to high standards. I agree with him. I think the ones we love and care about the most are those we hold high standards to.
- Brother and Sister are two words that should not be taken lightly. Your brother or sister will always be your brother and sister, wether you like it or not. They should always be there for you if you need help or advice
- The palace gaurds were starting to become Christians because the affect Paul had on them
- Paul told the Philippians so they would be encouraged to go and tell the gospel themselves
- Paul is writing to them from pure motives
- Paul is very good at encouraging
- Prayer is very important in your walk with Jesus Christ
- Paul probably thought death was around the corner at anytime
- In verse 20 Paul might have been hinting for the Philippians to pray for him
- Paul did have struggles, just like every other Christian
- Paul is starting to say that he would rather die and be with Christ Jesus
- Yet he wants to stay alive for them so he can keep writig to them
- Paul wants to keep progressing in his faith with the Lord
- I think the Philippians should be very grateful. They should feel special that Paul wants to stay alive to help them
- Paul is telling them no matter what happens keep in Jesus Christ
- He wants them to be able to do it on their own
- Seeing and hearing the gospel is two different things. Some people say they have to see to believe in that case seeing would be more important. Some people would just prefer to hear it. I think it depends on who you are.
- The christians will win in the end. No matter what
- You have to suffer to be a christian
- Paul has mixed emotions in this whole chapter
- He constantly brings up struggles, the day of Christ, prayer etc.
